Education

This page is under construction. Our plan is to create an educational page on severe weather divided into “basic” and “advanced” categories. This way, we can offer information in easy-to-understand ways that should benefit anyone who is interested in chasing. The “advanced” categories will expand on “basic” information and discuss scientific and mathematical concepts. You will find the “basic” information below, and we will add “advanced” sections at a later date.

To begin to understand severe storms, a wealth of knowledge in multiple scientific disciplines is needed; thermodynamics, physics, and chemistry are the big ones. We don’t expect that we will be able to cover every topic in as much detail as we would like.

We recommend anyone who is highly motivated to head over to UCAR’s MetEd website and sign up for free online classes!
