Education

Our plan is to create an educational page on severe weather divided into “basic” and “advanced” categories. This way, we can offer information in easy-to-understand ways that should benefit anyone who is interested in learning more about forecasting. The “advanced” categories will expand on “basic” information and discuss scientific and mathematical concepts. You will find the “basic” information below, and we will add “advanced” sections at a later date.

To begin to understand severe storms, a wealth of knowledge in multiple scientific disciplines is needed; thermodynamics, physics, and chemistry are the big ones. We recommend anyone who is highly motivated to head over to UCAR’s MetEd website and sign up for free online classes!
